Any work-around for turn signal beeper instal?

#1

Post by leonardhcross »

Hello naked friends. My project bike came without a turn signal alarm. I have extras so I tried installing one. I tried loosening the light mounting bracket but did not get any significant wiggle room. I tried warming up the rubber base. I made zero progress after an hour of fumbling and cursing. Does anyone have a work-around for pressing the beeper into place while on the bike?

Learn a new vocabulary of curses, and use a good lube on the square knob. The headlight really needs to be off.

Have you ever had a bike that had one of these that functioned? I would leave it off, originality be darned. 😄

The thing is, I kind of like that quirky little beeper. It is fun to watch other bikers turn and look.

I always thought it sounded like my 1000 was crying because it didn't want to turn. And I couldn't hear it at speed either.....

I had both a '78 and '79 that had working beepers. Didn't mind being reminded that it was on.

You might try softening the rubber with a heat gun and use a generous amount of lube. It would be a ton easier with the headlight off or at least loose though.

Use a 90* o ring pick to turn the edges under, plus the other ideas, heat and lube.

I tried heat and grease. I even tried trimming the rubber mounting boot a tad. After another hour of trying, I gave up. Here is the beeper snuggly zip-tied against the bracket.
