Giving my 75 some love.

Since I didn't get the 1200 sold before the sales dried up for the season and can't really afford to have another one to work on this winter. I've decided to get my 75 out of the shed and get her back in shape to ride. Will need lots of cleaning and some carb work for sure. Yesterday I put the center stand back on and got her to fire up for a while. The picture below is from a few years ago but there were very few changes after that. I haven't ridden this one much over the past few years and the last time was about a year ago. Has always been a fun ride.

Not too much going on with this yet. Got the carbs out today and will soon go through them to freshen up. Been spending most of my time on more pressing issues. Forecast looks good for tomorrows wind therapy.

Did a cleaning of the carbs today. For the most part they were in pretty good shape with only a small amount of grime. Worst part was the half moon air jet cover gasket on 2 of them were torn. My carb parts supply is very limited. Found some in another rack but they are pretty dry. Thought about trying to cut some from some material but didn't get that far before I had to quit for the day.

Seems like your dry half moon gaskets could get reused with a light smear of vasoline or 10W-30. Not hard to seal that so would not want to wait for parts but fine to cut one if you have the paper.

Sissy bar was on my CB500F, back in the day. Kept that and a bar mounted fairing along wit a few other items. Bar provided a backrest for the boss till she stopped riding.

Picked up some gasket material today. Pretty simple cut and shape process. First I traced one of the cover plates and cut out the new gaskets. Clamped all four together between two plates. Drilled a hole through all four. Put a small nut and bolt through and snugged it down. Used rasp to do the final shape. Easy fix.

Got the carbs back in and the first test fire wasn't great. Number 2 carb doesn't seem to be getting fuel into the mix. The header for that cylinder barely gets warm. Checked everything I could without pulling the rack out again. Sync is good, air screw is 2.5 turns for starters although I did detect a small air leak. Round two is on the horizon.

Did you open the drain screw on that carb. They do not all fill at once and perhaps that one was still dry.

Not dry, but did it have as much as the others? Fuel level in the bowl is an important parameter.

No chance to measure but there was more than expected. I had already considered the bowl may not be getting fuel. Took time off today to enjoy the nice riding weather. Maybe get back to it tomorrow.
