Hi Folks;
For the sadistic enjoyment of all you southern Wingers, we are headed to -13F overnight tonight here in eastern Ontario. With the windchill it will feel closer to -33F. UGH !
The car's block heater is plugged in ready to go for the morning. Needless to say that my Wing has shuffled herself far far away from the garage door.

It was 74 Sunday when the Wife and I walked the dogs down on the beach.
4 January 2015.jpg
Today it started in the mid 30's and almost hit 40 before the cold front arrived. Currently we are at 19 and still falling. May not be much up North but down here along the Coast the "teens" with zero and below windchill's are a pretty big deal. There will be hundreds with frozen pipes and worse come morning I am sure. These houses are just not built for this type of cold. Tomorrow they expect the high to be in the mid 20's. Luckily it is dry and this cold is not supposed to last for long, I think Friday they are forecasting mid to upper 40's again. Been a roller coaster week for sure.

I'll take it. The high here today was 9, wind chill -7. Six inches of snow, and wind, the last two days. And they say the REAL snow, and cold is coming tomorrow

-8F here, right now. Wind chills -25 to -35F. Supposed to be colder by morning. I get in my Explorer an hour ago, start the vehicle and idiot lights indicate low tire pressure. Quickly looked (kicked) the tires. Looked (kicked) fine to me. 10 miles later, the idiot light went off. Apparently I had to warm the air in the tires, to cancel out the low tire pressure sensor. Now that's cold!

Air pressure is very sensitive to air temp. Helicopter rotor blades are infamous for giving low pressure warnings when a cold front goes through. I am sure they will have a bunch this morning on the base!!

Two days ago we went from +13 at noon to -13f by 4:30. Winds have been 15-40 mph. Last night 1.5" of snow, warmer, but winds are expected to reverse and come out of the north to 50mph creating a blizzard. You probably think 1.5" a blizzard? But up here it's so flat and so open that the 1.5" all out in the open fields will blow towards the nearest obstructions, rivers, towns, farmsteads. It will be zero visibility at times. We are packing the students up and sending them home at 11:30 to hopefully beat the wind. Windchill will be in the -40 categories. Might get some putzing on the wing done today if I can get the garage warm enough to stand it.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I just saw on AOL, that in NW PA, right near the exit where we lived in Clarion, there was an 18 vehicle pileup with 3 dead.

We are pretty well normal for Calgary this time of year. Some light snow, icy side roads (the main roads are worn down to pavement). +12F right now but going down during the day with a north wind, low is forecast to be +1F tonight. Early next week the weather guesser are saying +40F for daytime highs, hope they are right.
