Thought it wouldn't hurt to flush the cooling system on my soon-to-be installed "new" motor. I read an article that described mixing oxalic acid with water, flushing and then rinsing with a baking soda mix. Didn't like that idea---acid scares me (at least that kind does ; )
Kept looking and found an article that recommends a 50/50 mix of white distilled vinegar and distilled water. Anyone experienced in that? Any yeas or nays on that idea?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

any acid is not too terrible, just wear safety clothing and goggles. you want it diluted, of course.
ALWAYS pour acid into whatever you're mixing it with. please not the other way 'round. trust me.

Thanks HH----I'm gonna try the 50/50 vinegar/water thing. Can't hurt. I see some white calcium-like deposits aroudn the edges of the water inlet and outlet. Not to the point that I want to don the rubber gloves, but I think I should try a gentle cleansing while I have the engine out and easy access.
p.s. Any new mead production? We are still hoarding four bottles of the original batch. Great stuff!

vinegar (acetic acid) is a very mild acid, but will usually remove any lime deposts, without being to harsh on anything else.... it is also good at removing smells from clothing in the rinse cycle....
just remember.... your body converst ethanol to first acetylaldehyde, then to acetic acid (vinegar)
