My 94 Interstate was probably an escort bike at one time for the SAPD. It runs great, however my fourth gear is out. I've been shifting passed it an into fifth for nearly a year now. I would like to sale the bike but thought it would be better to fix it maybe. It has 62k miles and the engine is perfect. The bike looks great cosmetically. The dealer says it will be a 5 hour job just to break down the engine to get to the transmission. Is this something I can do? If so, what are the steps. I'd like to take the transmission somewhere to have it fixed if I can remove it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

5 hours to get to the transmission
what is the name of your mechanic? Speedy Gonzales! it almost take that long on your bike just to get the engine of the bike. IF you are mechanicly incline and have a GOOD shop manuel you can do it yourself, just plan for the whole weekend.
