Coolant leak

#1

Post by PettyRocks »

I went out to my bike (76 GL1000) this morning and noticed a small pool of antifreeze right next to the kickstand. The puddle was about the size of a half dollar. Upon futher investigation I saw that it seemed to be comming from the top of the headers. I've rode my bike for the last 2 weeks every day and have not had a problem with overheating. I was wondering if anyone knew what might be causing this sudden leak? Thanks for the help, David

There are O-rings in the cross over pipes for your cooling system, & it's probably one of those........ Wipe around the fittings, & give the fittings a good look.... It could be the fitting going into the top of the head as well....

Hopefully it is what Frenchy said!! It can leak at the cross over tubes then it runs down through the drain holes by the spark plugs and looks just like it is coming from the header area.

Thanks for the help, it ended being the seal on the fitting going into the top of the head. I guess it looks like I have one more thing to do this winter, Thanks again, Daivd
