For some unknown reason it happens to my '77 from time to time. :-?

Then I mess a little with the gear lever (that thin' by your left foot)
and the issue goes away. 8)

It feels as if the bike was / would be in between gears and therefore it would play dead just to mess
with my head?

30 amp fuse?

#5

Post by Rat »

If it was an 1100 I'd say 'check the 30 amp fuse, they can look good and still be intermittent.'
I'm not sure about the 1500 :-? .

welcome venture..

you turn the key and nothing????

you mean no igniyion lights,etc...

or lights but no start..

could be stator failure.. or carbon build up on the switch..

i would be more inclined to think the stator is at fault.

Thanks Bandanna,

Nothing at all except the cruise control light and the radio / clock. Everything else is dead. No start anything. I jumped the solonoid and it did turn over so I know the solonoid is good.

Welcome Venture!!

If it's not the main fuse, it's probably the ignition switch. I would think that if it were the main fuse, you wouldn't have anything..... I'm not familiar with the 1500's, but check all of your fuses, the key switch, & all electrical connections in-between.

FIXED Dead Goldwing

OK to all who tried to help. This Dog is hunting again! :-D

What I found was the headlight relay was pulling in but for some reason was not making contact. So I replaced it and all electrical came back on. The guy I was working with had taken the Control Module off and tried a new one prior to all this and did not get it seated correctly. Once I found that the bike now runs and works great!

Thanks everyone for your support. And know that I will use this again in the future.

Ride safe all.
