Hello and welcome aboard fellow countryman. thup

I have never done it, but I know other that have done
it and they tell this works.

I know Randakk dosen't like the idea.

GL1100 carbs on a GL1000 reduce the value of the bike for current and subsequent owners.
They definitely reduce the collectibility of the bike in question. If you disregard sound
advice on protecting your investmetn, do so at your own peril.
GL1100 carbs are unnecessary. There are no inherent problems with GL1000 carbs...the only
problems with these carbs are the "mechanics" who work on them.
GL1100 carbs reduce maximum performance. There are not well matched to the performance
requirements of GL1000s ...esp. the '75-'77 models with the "hotter" cams. In short, if
you want to enjoy the GL1000 as the "superbike" Honda intended - GL1000 carbs are the best
at extracting maximum performance. Every GL1100 carb-equipped GL1000 I've ridden was very
"doggy."
GL1100 carbs are unecessarily more complicated and more expensive to rebuild. 4 aircut-off
valves vs. 1...I rest my case!
As to the accelerator pump feature on GL1100 carbs, this does give a "seat of the pants"
improvement in "off-idle" response over stock GL1000 carbs. This "gain" is so slight it
would not show on a dyno run. However, this GL1000 quirk is very easy to fix with much
less complication via Robert Overby's mod: http://www.randakks.com/TechTips.htm#6
Accelerator pumps introduce an unneccesary additional point of failure...esp. on lightly
used bikes.
All GL1000s are not equal. There are big differences in performance and specs in the early
('75-'77) vs. later ('78-'79) GL1000s. The early bikes have much hotter cams.
Even if a set of GL1100 carbs were a good idea on one of these ranges (it's not), they
would be way wrong for the other range. In fact, the GL1100 carbs are more of a compromise
on the earlier, higher performance models ('75-'77)
