Setting Carb Floats - Proper lean angle

#1

Post by cycleman »

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I stumbled on a easy way to keep the proper lean angle when adjusting the floats. Randakk shows the proper lean angle leaning the carbs up against a vise.

I recently rebuilt my carbs and when it came time to set the floats I put the carbs with the floats to be adjusted down on the bench ( floats up ) & then laid the top set against my chest. I just moved forward/backward slightly until the angle was right & then adjusted the floats.

It makes it very easy to adjust the floats while maintaining the proper angle. Your eyes are about a foot away from the bottom floats and you can easily adjust them with simple hand tools & a gauge.
