Thanks, gang. I've been fabbing that in my head ... over and over and over ... for about 9 months. It definitely turned out solid.

Haven't been posting much lately, but I've been keeping up with most of the new stuff and do visit every day.

We're having a second riding season here so I'm going all out to take advantage of it. I've ridden to work 4 out of 5 days this week (today's my TGIF) and have been doing my best to "Take the Long Way Home".

Also trying to get the last of the canning done, paint the bedroom, refinish the floors and get in some dedicated beer drinkin'.

Id sure like to see the trailer that one hauls with all the xtra batteries attached to keep all those lights working, ,must be a stater from hel- or quad alternators to keep the charge in those batteries,wonder if theres room for a mercury light. WOW!!!

That guy (JonnyFritz) actually has some posts here... questions about removing the back wheel, I think. He acquired it from the builder.

He's in the process of separating all the lighting onto a separate (or several separate) circuits and removing the load from the stator.

Now that is a nicely designed wind shield mount. Gotta give you an A+. As for sining....it's ok...if sin was money I'd be driving a porsche and paid cash for it!!!! Enjoy your bike and good work on the wind shield!!!

Now there is a picnic Id not want to attend at all. Seperating all those lights. I wish him much luck. Can't believe one stater is providing enough power to run that pile of lights. Good luck Jonnyfritz.

I just used a compass and followed the old curve.

But, that's a great idea, think I'll use that when I take off 1-1/2 to 2" more.

1stYrDeek is running a hard sell on me to let him PC the frame. I'm an easy mark and willing customer. I hope it fits in his oven. When I take it all apart that'll be a good chance to recut the screen.

just curious, that's how I did mine with only 2" off, and it looks just like your arc w/the edges like that...

I need to lose another inch or two to be perfect. this time I may go off the center of the headlight to flatten it a hair.

This was discussed over in my Restoration thread but I wanted to update this info here too since it's specific to the windscreen.

I was not pleased with the angle of the screen. I wanted it to line up with the forks. But the headlight brackets were made first. They were then welded to the lower frame of the shield and bolted to the headlight bolts. The screen was leaned back as far as it would go, just a couple of MM away from the gauges. Can't angle any more. Then I made the handlebar brackets. I'll need to reform them or recreate them after the headlight bracket problem is addressed. We'll need to either bend, weld or cut them to get more angle.

My welder buddy did not have the bike for the project ... he had the shield and took a cursory look at the bike and did his best guess. Not bad, works, but not perfect.
Therein lies the problem.

Blue is the current angle. Red is the ideal angle. The bracket in the green box needs to be modded to bring the bottom of the shield out to about the back of the headlight rim. It could also go down almost an inch at the bottom. When I can ride it to work he can fix it.

Well, I had the problem of the shield angle to solve and a nice day to do it.

The machinist at work said to just give him a simple drawing and he could fix me up with a new bracket.

So, I grabbed some scrap metal brackets, extra bolts and washers, hacksaw and then did a little time on the grinder.

This appears to be the angle I want and will have him make the bracket to match this.

It looks rough but it's solid. Have done a few rides with it (one in strong winds) and it rides much better. A lot less buffeting and seems more streamlined. I can also see over it much better now. So I'll have him cut a "V" out of the bracket, bend it down and weld it. It looks like it should be long enough.

And the upper brackets only had to have the end tabs bent where they attach to the shield brace.

Still riding it around with the farmer-fix in place.

Your riding and thats good. BTW,make sure you reconnect your Speedo cable,its unhooked in the last picture.

Gary, thanks for the heads up. But it is disconnected because it is making a horrible grinding noise. So it spins in the air and keeps track of nothing right now. When I pull off the screen to get the headlight bracket fixed I plan to paint the frame and repair the speedo.
