Do wire wheels exist for a 1980 GL1100? Or will wheels from another year work? Thanks in advance.

I really don't know, but Fat_Wing have made a wire wheel for his

I was wondering the same thing.

Will GL1000 wire wheels fit on a GL1100? I feel sure the front will, but will the rear fit on the '81 final drive unit?

I've been told that '83 aluminum wheels will also work, but the rear swingarm must be changed?

Any thoughts on either application?

It is possible to fit a wire wheel off of a GL1000 ontoan 110, but the speedo cable has to be changed as the speedo drive is on the wrong side of the wheel. A bracket also has to be fabricated to stop the speedo unit from turning with the wheel
As faras I know the 1000 wheelcannot be adapted to fit the 1100. Thats not to say a good engineer wouldnt be able to get it towork.
As for 1100 alloy wheels,as far as I am aware they fit the standard earlier 1100 swinging arm

They say WHY?, I say why not.
If God had intended motor cycles to be standard, he would'nt have given us the hacksaw.

I used a 1976 front hub and 1200 bearings in it. I'm not running a speedometer. Keep in mind the 1200 brake rotors were differant so I had to use the 1000 rotors.

Hope this helps.
