aha, from the initial post's info, I didn't realize the belts had been removed prior to noticing the pulleys being off kilter.

and, I didn't know you had another pair of hands involved. my default situation isn't like that so I don't normally think along those lines.
sorta bulldogged custom 1978 GL1000 - "geekster"

That sounds great docfishr. The only thing I can add is if you have any running problems you should definitely do a leak down test on those cylinders before looking in other places. Good detective work.
