I worked on the 1996 Grand Sport Corvette as a Design Responsible Engineer. I worked on the 1996 Grand Sport Corvette, so to pay a bit of homage to the 1966 Grand Sport Covettes raced by the Mercom team I added hash marks to my side covers. Painted the cover gloss red, polished the rattle can paint to a high gloss, then taped over what I wanted as stripes and painted the cover satin black. This clearly leaves an offset between the red and black, and as the look is to be tape, the offset is a nice feature imo.
