75 to 76 Seat and pan Do others Fit

#1

Post by redbike »

The seats on the 75 and 76 are the same, I know that's the obvious. Are any other seat pans the same? Do other seats bolt straight on to the 75 or 76?
Thanks!

75-79 all fit…. The only differences are that on the 78-79 the front edge of the seat is cut on a bit of an angle to accommodate the the angle on the back of the shelter vs the more straight cut of the 75-77.

As far as comfort goes (imho) the 75-76 are flat out nut busters because of their rounded shape, think of it as sitting on a vinyl covered log… the 77 seat which came from the 76 LTD is flatter and much more comfortable and again in my opinion is the most comfortable of the 1000 series seats. The 78-79 seats are basically the same with differences in the covers and Honda was playing with the foam with different densities. I have a 79 on my 76 that is oe with dual density foam, not as comfortable as the 77 I had at one time but not bad for a stock seat. All had black vinyl covers oe but I believe there were some optional brown covers offered for the LTD.

As far as comfort goes just removing the seat strap across the middle really helps depending on your butt size..

Have to agree with Redglbx and cannot add anything to his comments except my former 1976 GL1000 LTD also had the same black seat as my 1977 BADDOG.
