wanted: two fan switches
Looking for two Honda fan switches. Dealer says no longer available. One for my 84 and one for my 78. (same switch).I know I can get them from China, but would rather have used originals that are good. Let me know what you have.

Re: wanted: two fan switches
Cyborg, when I installed the 9” 1800cfm mini fan in my bike I just used an adjustable thermo switch from a universal automotive setup. I think I got it all from Amazon. Wasn’t terribly expensive and has been in there a long time.
It uses a thermo sensor that attaches to the radiator and has a pair of adjustable switch’s for when the fan comes on and goes off. Mine comes on earlier and goes off later than the factory switch. The good thing is that you have to really look to see it and as I recall I just adapted to the factory wiring with no cutting.
The whole setup works much better because the mini fan move 1800cfm vs the factory 400cfm , if the fan is actually running at full song, mine wasn’t. The downside (maybe) is that you can hear the fan when it comes on and you can feel the warm air, but I’ve really grown accustomed to it and really don’t notice it.
Sorry I can’t give you more details but it’s been quite some time ago when I installed everything and I really can’t remember what I had for dinner yesterday. But it works well and really fixed my overheating problem that I had been chasing for a very long time. My fan would come on but was barely turning, just enough to look like it was running but you really couldn’t feel any air moving. When it was new and came on you could really feel the warm moving, but not like now with the mini fan. Hope it helps.

Re: wanted: two fan switches
Thanks for the info. I use 12 inch electric fans on both bikes already. And I love the way they cool. I thought about the adjustable switch but was concerned about how Theyn looked and worked. You my have convinced me. Also considering the Geo switches, but can't find the on and off temps. Thanks again

Re: wanted: two fan switches
Cyborg, I used my laser thermometer to help set the on-off switch points. I used the temps in the service manual as guidelines but actually turn the fan on a little early and leave it on a little longer than needed. It runs a lot but it keeps my motor a lot cooler. And after all the overheating problems I had for years I prefer this. Good luck!

I like the concept of that switch. But I have heard of some problems mounting the probe into the radiator fins. If you can recall the part number and where you got yours it would be very helpful

Re: wanted: two fan switches
Cyborg, sorry but it’s been many years ago and I can barely remember what I had for breakfast (plus 2 major back surgeries and a mild stroke have affected my memory) but I’m pretty sure I got it all from Amazon about 10-15yrs ago.
I don’t remember any mounting issues with either the fan or the sensor, but I know I didn’t really want to see it and you can see it but you really have to look , I’ll take a look at my Amazon purchase history to see if it’s there.

Just thought I would ask. I can relate to your issues. I'll look around and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your help

Re: wanted: two fan switches
Good morning Cyborg. I probably have an extra fan switch for the 78, so long as it is the same as for 75-77's. Let me know if you are still searching and I will dig through my boxes. Len.

They are the same, and I still need a couple. Lots of ways to go, but I prefer the original if I can find them Thanks for lookingleonardhcross wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 8:49 am Good morning Cyborg. Sorry. It turns out that I sent my last one out to another forum member a year ago. Best of luck.
