I’m getting ready to freshen up the timing belt on my 81 GL 1100.
I have no idea how old the tensioners are. As an auto mechanic I typically replace timing belt tensioners as a maintenance item.
The original part number 14510-371-008 is no longer available.
But part number 14510-MG9-008 is available and looks very similar.
I can find the original part number on eBay, but they are extremely expensive. Basically about $200 each.
I can find the second part number for a lot less money.
I’m wondering if these can be substituted or somehow modified to work

a Gates T42015 is the belt idler pulley utilized in this tensioner rebuild

I knew there was a way to add new pulleys onto the tensioners.
Was just curious if that other part number would work without having to do the machine work.
Not that the machine work is difficult. Looks pretty straightforward.

I have a bag of the flathead screws if you want two of them. $7.00 shipping might be cheaper than buying a bag of 20 like I did. (I think that was $15 for shipping alone.

Kerryb thanks for the offer. But I can probably source some locally. Not sure if I need any yet. Will be working on the timing belts today. See what kind of condition the rollers are in.
