Moto Guzzi 1200 sport tourer

Post by dontwantapickle »

I just bought another bike.
2008 Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 GT.

Runs great, 37K.
It has a powered windshield, heated grips 6 speeds and the typical noisy Italian dry clutch.
The quick removable luggage is pretty cool.

I'm not going to be taking this one off road, the plan is to keep the "dual sport" goldwing for dirt riding.

It is very Red and a real attention getter, but it's going to take some getting used to.

The clutch noise bothers me, (my Hondas don't sound like that).

Also, this is the first computer controlled / Fuel Injected bike that I have ever owned,
and I don't really know how to work on it. Hopefully I won't have to.

We have yet to take it on a good long ride to see how it will work for us as a touring bike,
but so far, the short rides around here have been pretty fun.

It's in great shape, fairly fast and the price was right. All good things.
Now, If only I can get used to the clutch rattle...

We have had some nice weather lately so my woman and I went for ride to really check this bike out.
We put 80 miles on the moto guzzi then immediately jumped on the 1980 1100 to compare the two.

The Goldwing is the clear winner!

Although the Moto Guzzi is faster,
the 45 year old Goldwing is so much more comfortable, quieter, smoother, and overall easier to ride.

I'm too old to put up with riding an uncomfortable motorcycle.
I'm going to sell this Guzzi.
