I rebuilt the rear master cylinder of my 1979 GL1000 and it's leaking around the pushrod. I've taken it apart twice and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The cylinder bore appears to be undamaged and I did clear the little bleed hole.
Can anyone tell me if they see anything wrong with the order of these parts? This is the order I put them in the master cylinder bore.

Did you happen to hone the m/c bore to break up the glaze ? I have found this to be necessary to allow the seals to seal and reduce wear on them.

No, I didn't. Any suggestions what I could use to hone them, without having to buy something special (and also not messing up the bores). 200 grit sandpaper on a dowel??
I have used 320 - 400 grit wet or dry paper dipped in brake fluid, I just roll it up on itself (think cinnamon roll) then insert and twist it so the paper tries to unroll, continue to twist and move it in and out, the resistance of unrolling it should break up the glaze without making deep scratches, then rinse with brake clean.
Personally I use 600 grit along with fresh brake fluid, create a proper “cross hatch” and then clean everything thoroughly.(soap & water, brake cleaner, or clean brake fluid, isopropyl alcohol all will work fine), You don’t need to be aggressive here, you’re just looking to break the surface glaze up.
Let us know how it goes.

You may already do this, but it is important to clean between the cup and piston shaft, and lubricate everything with brake fluid for assembly.
