84 interstate rear master cylinder

A riding buddy of mine is having issues with his.
He rebuilt it because he was having to pump the pedal a few times to get the rear brakes to grab.
It seemed to work for a while but now he's back to having to pump it again.
Since the master cylinder is made from unobtanium and buying a used one isn't the best solution does anyone have a work around or know of another master cylinder that can be adapted to work?

Because of the linked brakes they can be a bugger to bleed, which is my first thought. I think I had to revisit mine three times; bleed, ride 'til they get soft, bleed, ride, etc...

I used a vac bleeder on my 84 when I rebuilt it but I think it needs more. I don't have to pump it but the pedal is not really stiff.

That's exactly how to describe my brakes on the '86. I have just let them 'self bleed' if you will, and then do another fill and bleed...

I just sent you a PM as I have a fully rebuilt one for sale here in the for sale section. Looking for $50 plus shipping for a brand new OEM Honda seal kit and refreshed outer section of the splitter and cylinder unit.
Current Bikes:
