Broken Wing

I just picked up a 77 GL1000 with 16k original miles . The engine was stuck so I removed the heads and found the cylinder walls pitted beyond repair. So either I find a used engine or sell the bike for parts. Does anyone have any other ideas about what to do.

Are you certain this is beyond repair? These old 'wings can recover from fairly serious rusting as long as the gears are Ok. I have "shaved" ( single-edge blade held in hemostats) corrosion from the walls and had better compression on the rusted side than the "clean" side.

with that low miles nothing else should be worn. If you do part how's the stock seat. I could use a 77 seat for my LTD.
