75 GL1000 Baffles

Has anyone ever removed the baffles on the original exhaust? are they hard to get out?
I was wondering how much it effects the sound & back pressure

Original exhausts are getting pricey these days. I would rather sell a good one and put on HD Sportster Takeoffs than attempt to remove a baffle that clearly was installed before the can halves were crimped and welded together.

I'll let you have this one to rebuild of you want to give it a go.

They just need a polish!
The rest is for that throaty sound! 😉

I am pretty sure I removed the baffles from my first GL1000 back in 1977. It was a new 1975 model and when new, they were not difficult to remove. After many years, they will much harder to remove because of the rust. I actually have 4 to 6 sets of the mufflers and I think one of them has had the baffles removed. I recommend leaving them in.
