I wrote an article a while ago about lubing a dry/screeching speedo or tach for the CWC newsletter and was also published in the VJMC mag. Basically all you need to do is drill a small hole (1/16 or 1/8) hole at the top of the stem front and then squirt some oil in so that it runs down the stem and lubes the bearing.

A couple of things to be careful of is to only drill the hole just deep enough to get through the outer layer of the stem and not into the internal parts. Also I don’t recommend turning the gauge upside down and poring oil into the stem unless you like oil in your gauge faces. My .02

I figured out the problem, Speedo must’ve been failing before, it is now completely locked up. Took it off and can’t get it to budge. That’d explain the broken cables and now the speedo drive. Luckily had another one from a cb900 that will fit as long as I swap out the bracket on back.
