Finally brought her home.
I think the issue before was due to cold motor and low idle.
Had a bad seal on the right fork leg and turns out my scaffold doubles as both a garage and a motorcycle lift.

Cold engine and low idle will certainly make them run a tad off...hope that is all that plagues your ride. Scaffolding does have some good qualities to it!

Nope, stalling issue is still there.
And even with the bike in neutral and stepping hard down and forwards on the pegs will also make it stall.
I'll sync the carbs sometime in the future ;) but I'm having a hard time believing the sync could make it behave like that.

Are you bouncing it when you are stepping down hard? If not, you may be looking at a different problem than fuel.

Yeah that’s a good question. Will try more tomorrow. I also tried to tug on all the ignition wiring but could not make it stall that way.

I guess one easy thing to check is your ground. If you are flexing the frame, perhaps you lose your contact with ground.

Yeah that might be it. But I’ve run all ground as leads directly to the battery more or less. The coils are only connected to the frame with in bolt though. Will try to make a cable tomorrow so I can ground it on both sides and see if that makes a difference.

If bike is rolling, no matter how hard I jump up and down on the pegs it will not stall. Not even in neutral. It only does it when stationary...

Also power washed it yesterday and front left cylinder(2?) is acting up. Replaced sparkplug, coil plug and wire but no real change. At least it is less and less intermittent. Might replace both coils with something else, might even try coil on plugs.

Took a longer rider and then disaster struck ;)

I guess it is not so easy to open it up without damaging the gauge it self, it has been acting up for a couple of days before this. Needle been going all over the place and the speed wire was also bouncing around when the needle were going crazy.
Guess it is not just pressing the needle back, seems like the internals would need an overhaul.
Odometer works just fine.
Are there newer gauges that fits? Or am I looking at replacing the whole cluster or trying to find a good used one?

If you wanted to update the look of it, there are a handful of options available...If you want the look to stay the same, it is probably not that hard to rehab your current speedo.

I am talking about the battery ground itself. It is bolted to the upper engine mount ear. Be sure that is clean, and tight.

snip....
Check the drain holes to be sure one of them isn't plugged and shorting out your plug with water. All of the cylinders have this hole to be sure things drain out of the spark plug area.

All drain holes are ok. Checked the exhaust with a ir thermometer and both front cylinders have half the temp of the rears. So I guess it’s the coil.
Need to check the frame ground as well.

At low rpms it is horrible, just stuttering and no power. So real hard to get going after a stop. But then it goes like normal at higher rpm’s. I feel like if the coil would be bad it would be worse at higher rpm and not at low..
