5016 going to a new home

For many years, my brother and I occasionally tried to find a high school motorcycle buddy from the early 70s, but neither one of us could find him. Seemed like he just vanished, but a few months ago I stumbled onto a post by his daughter, that I didn't even know he had, and eventually tracked him down. It was nice catching up with him, but I was surprised that he never got another motorcycle since high school. Turns out, he lives in Rapid City and I live in Cheyenne which about 4 1/2 away, so I decided to give him a motorcycle as I have too many anyway. I chose the Blue/Green 1975 GL1000 that I restored a few years ago and posted some pictures on this web site as I did the work. He is very, very excited about getting this bike and will be here tomorrow to pick it up. I am currently restoring two other 1975 GL1000s, so I won't be without one for too long. Here are some pictures of this bike in case you don't remember it. It is going to a good friend and I am sure he will enjoy it. Makes me happy too.

Wow very cool , just as a matter of interest what oil pressure do you get at hot idle and say 4000rpm?

Seems like it stays between 20 and 75. I will try and go out and check for you later.

That is a great story Cedric, and a beautiful bike. I’m glad you are able to do this for your friend, hopefully both of you and your brother can get together and share some quality riding time.

Yes, I am hoping we can ride all three GL1000s to Yellowstone next year. I love the Chief Joseph Hwy and Beartooth.

I mixed two colors to obtain a close match to the original paint. It even turns greenish at sundown like the original. I bet some of you thought it was original paint, didn't you?
