Fuel tank relining preferences

#1

Post by UniCacher »

I'm going to bite the bullet this winter and re-line my tank. I'd hate to wreck that beautiful carb job that Randakk made possible (and easy). I've read about a couple of products and was wondering if there are opinions on them:

Red-Kote (now blue, apparently)
POR-15
Bill Hirsch

Also, does it matter if the exterior paint is stripped if it's going to be repainted anyway?

As you shop around for tank re-lining stuff, do yourself a favor and check out Caswell Coatings out of New Jersey. They sell ($37.00) a couple of years ago, an epoxy like stuff that cures up in 24 hrs and hardends crystal clear and hard as nails. I used it because the methanol in the sh_t thay sell as fuel now days was eroding the fiberglass in my Notron Commando tank! No probs now mate. One shippment is enough for 2 GL tanks easily.
