This isn't necessarily a "How To", as much as it is a "Don't Do".....
The following are pictures of intake plenums.
The first is on a customers bike. He purchased the bike last year. Fired it up & road it a bit........ Look in the plenum, that's rust from the screens..... Not something you want to suck into the cylinders!!
The next shot is the mouse nest right in front of the breather intake:
A fair bit was on the filter, restricting air flow.........
The next is another customer bike. He couldn't figure out why she wouldn't run either........ BTW, that's another mouse nest:
Yes I charge extra for varment removal...............
So in closing:
Before you try to start a bike for the first time, check inside the plenum!
Look before you start!

Gee, maybe we should make and install a plug for the plenum for us northern winter riders. I've had mice in my rides, too.
