Hi All - gearing up for the season; on the 2/4 side / in front of 2 cylinder on the ground I am seeing a fine spray of oil. No drips on engine and the spray is fine and runs in a line parallel to length of bike for say 10 inches by 3/4 inch. Oil is un der pressure to make the spray.....anyone experienced this thxs kenai

I agree with Whiskerfish, pics would be good. Did you have the head off on that side recently?

Better pull belt covers and see if they are throwing oil. They won’t last long if covered with oil. A bad cam seal leak could push some oil. I’ve never seen it enough to get on the pulley and belt.

If the line is front-to-back, wouldn't it be head gasket or valve cover gasket with some serious blowby?

Hi all- looked again and there is drip coming from gear shift seal; that looks to have traveled down; still haven't figured how it did the pattern front to back yet; also have a leak on valve covers that'll seal with gulmilch (sp) glue once I final the valve adjust. thxs lee

I've never put any type of sealant on valve cover gaskets. Never an issue with good gaskets. I do use aftermarket gaskets. I reuse them until they just don't "feel/look right" any more.

Shouldn't have to use any sealant on rubber valve cover gaskets like Robin said. I'd get fresh gaskets and grommets if you have a leak. Shift seal isn't hard to do either.

My old engine's valve covers always leaked. It decreased after I invested in a new set of cover seals and bolt seals from Georgefix but never stopped completely. The new engine has the Georgefix bolt seals and the new cover seals that came in the Athena gasket kit I used when I had the engine apart. I have about 95% of the tube of ThreeBond I bought for assembling the engine left over so was contemplating using that on the cover seals when I check the calve clearances this spring.
