The bike looks great esp the Webers! Couples of questions: Where did you buy the seat and is the front fender off a 78 or 79?
Was there much modding to get it bolted up? I always have liked that style of fender vs the OEM one on my 83.
Hope spring gets here soon for you (and me). It has snowed here 3 times already really didn't have a fall season this year.

If you look in the forum Goldwing Tech Discussions I recently put a post up titled Modified Ducati Monster seat on a Gl1100 that details what I did. The front fender I actually can’t remember what it originally belonged to but it wasn’t Honda. The bracket to mount it is off a 79 Gl1000. I had to do some cutting and bending to get it all to work.Jonesz wrote:The bike looks great esp the Webers! Couples of questions: Where did you buy the seat and is the front fender off a 78 or 79?

It looks like I wont be riding with my knees against the tank. I'm 6'1" and don't think it will take much getting used to. Im going to use a short domed air cleaner that will add a tiny bit of width. I'm sure I will be happy with it.5speed wrote:thanks. I'm 6'4" and I've always wondered about this.Boxer4 wrote:You know what. I actually haven’t. Re: 82 Gl1100 Cafe Racer, Dual Weber idf 40's.
I did a Weber 40 conversion on my '78 recently. I loved the look. Was frustrated with tuning. Like you, I was disappointed with the legroom issue. Plus, on the '78, the shelter clearance is even tighter than on the 75-77. Forced either velocity stacks (and no real filter) or scalloping or otherwise modifying the shelter.
I probably put less than 500 miles on my setup before deciding it wasn't the way I wanted to go. Thing ran like stink. Idled well, but I never got rid of a bit of an off-idle bog. I threw a number of combinations at it along with various accelerator pump thrust settings - plus a couple of by-pass settings. If I'd been more patient, I'm sure I could've solved the slight bog, but the other factors were more pressing to me. I went back to the stock rack.
There is no doubt that these babies attract attention. And they sound wild, too. But, they're not for everybody.

Wow, It looked awesome with the Weber's. I was thinking if I went with the stacks of going with 4 or 6 inch and using microphone foam covers as filters.i think I'm going to use the air filters that Randakk's used though.desertrefugee wrote:I did a Weber 40 conversion on my '78 recently.
