Bolt size and thread

#1

Post by PappyJay »

I have acquired a 76 GL1000 (barn find) with 36000 original miles. In the process of removing an aftermarket fairing and hard bags and need to replace the bolts that attach the rear fender to the frame since the frame for the hard bags has been removed and the long bolts that were used were cut off rather crudely by the previous owner. I expect more of these abortions and am looking for a reference of sorts that id's bolt and pitch size for most if not all components. Clymer manual doesn't state sizes. Am I going to have to spring for more expensive shop manuals? This bike hasn't been started in 5 years so needless to say it is a long, slow journey that I am on!
Thanks for any info.
