When I bought a replacement clutch cover it came with extra bolts. One of the longer bolts seems to fit. It starts to thread with about 1/4" of the top of the bolt left. I might just use this bolt.

If it bottoms out before seating, don't force it. Aluminum is not very forgiving. Either use spacers or get the correct bolt.

Well it goes finger tight with out bottoming out. So I am assuming at this point it is a suitable replacement. The exploaded diagram unfortunately is not clear otherwise I would buy the correct bolt.

usually the parts fisch will give you the length of the bolt. so I would measure what you have, and then check #68 and if they are the same, then they are the same

You can also put all the bolts in the cover before attaching it to the motor, the amount protruding (the part that threads into the motor) will be all the same length provided they are in their proper location.

While that is a good way to check it isn't always the case. And I can't speak for certain on a GL engine. But on some others the bolt my stick out further depending on the hole on the other half of the case. The threads don't always start at the very edge. Sometimes they will go in farther before the threads start. Holes with locating dowels are a good example.
