well, it's almost time to re-insure and throw the leg over the ol' gal... same goes for the bike. spent this winter respraying the exhaust system and tarting up the plastic after a stupid little brake fluid spill (the less said about, the better.) anyhoo, just thought i'd clock in with y'all and offer up a few pictures in the new livery - and if i could, level some praise and some criticism re aerosol paint jobs...
Rustoleum, with the 'trigger' spray, ergh... nope. not impressed. loved the colour, sold on the name, disappointed with the paint delivery. splats, drips, awkward to use. EXPENSIVE.
spraymax 2 part urethane clearcoat 'glamour' on the other hand... super expensive at $25 a pop, but worth every red cent. transformed an average looking paint finish (described as metallic, but there's still more metal sprinkles falling from the roof of the garage than ever made it on to my tank) into something that restored my pride in being cheap and attempting the job myself.
all in all, would i do it again? deffo. prep is the key, patience in equal amounts, and the certain knowledge that you'll save yourself a grand and a half if you're not a 'showroom' finish nazi.
if you're undecided, have a crack at it. probably, all in all to include paint (x6) spraymax (x2) turtlewax cutting, polish and wax, and vht black for the pipes just -$300 but as they say, the smile is priceless...

keep 'er between the hedges !

good looking bike. Clean lines. I would like to see it in the running for bike of the month.....and beyond. By the way, I have tried a few different spray cans, and I have come to like the "Dupli-Color" line. Lots of colors, and a good delivery system

Front fender history? Looks nice.

I am about to start on my hibernating 79 ( yeah, you all wonder where you have heard this before.....for the past 5 years!). I was going to keep it stock but the paint black paint, whilst not terrible, does have marks and the gold lining definitely has seen better days.
Your bike has just convinced me to do something similar. Very nice, clean understated design.
BOM for me too.

Nice paint. Looks like youre running the same front fender I have. I think it's from a late 80's Shadow. It fits really close to the tire.
