Camping is also available about a mile from Li’l Abner Motel at the Whittleton Campground, a part of Natural Bridge State Park. The rate is $15/night. It is in a Kentucky State Park, so they do not allow alcohol. 606-663-2214 for reservations. There are BEARS in this area.
For those who have arrived by around 6:00PM on Tuesday, we will have a pot of chili for consumption for those who do not want to ride again to find dinner. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL PLAN. We also have two fun rides planned; one for Wednesday and one for Thursday. Each will be around 100 miles with a lunch stop included. Wednesday’s ride will include a trip through the famous (or infamous) Nada tunnel, a ride through the Red River Gorge, some twisty roads through rock formations, a lunch stop and a stop at a carry-out store. Thursday’s ride is optional and will include many curves, twisties and a lot of scenery. It will also include a lunch stop. The rest of the time will be free time for you to explore the surrounding area, or just sit by the fire and chat with your friends. You may want to plan on spending an extra day or so in the area…there is so much to see.
Although Powell County is a DRY county, there are carry-out stores within 6 miles of the Motel. The Motel assures us that there are no restrictions on consumption at the motel, inside or outside.
We will have a Hamburger and Bratwurst cook out on Thursday evening at the shelter house with all of the food and drinks (except alcohol) provided. Coffee, donuts and juice will be provided on Wednesday morning at the motel. Coffee only will be provided on Thursday morning.
Everyone is invited. We love to see first time members at these meets. Although Naked Goldwings are the subject, you can ride anything to these events!
