This Is The Memorial Location For Our Fallen Brothers And Sisters, To Honor Their Memory And So That New Members Can Get To Know Those Who Have Passed On
Carl Sorensen went off the course and over a cliff this morning while doing a practice run up Pikes Peak. It was a sanctioned practice event in preparation for an upcoming race. Carl and his Wife Lacy were my Neighbors here in Norfolk for about 5 years and moved out to Colorado several years ago.
I will never forget when they first moved in I thought to myself well there goes the neighborhood They were both tatted and pierced up and she had a License plate that was designed to shock the locals. NOLA 666 or something like that
Well once we met we started talking Bikes and then Dogs and soon all the reservations came down. They hung out with a younger crowd but we had enough in common to be more than just Neighbors. They were Rescue Pit bull people and had a couple of the sweetest Fur babies there was. Bonnie and Norton ( their dogs then) both passed this past year and now Carl has joined them. Poor Lacy.
He Loved the Datona 675's. He got the first one out of the crate when they came out here in Va. I will never forget he was so excited waiting for it to arrive.

Sad indeed. Looks like those two were made for each other.

Sorry you lost your friend. We drove up Pike's Peak a couple of years ago, the day after one of their big races. It was sobering to see a couple of cars strewn all over the rocks from the day before.

Carl was full of life. Loved bikes and racing and having fun. He had an easy smile and a great sense of humor and laughter. He had an original 650 Bonneville from the 60's he would ride around the neighborhood a few times a year and a crotch rocket before he got the 675 Daytona and he loved those machines. He was good enough that he got a paid gig riding for Buell starting last year and I believe that is what he was on when he crashed.
When Hurricane Isabel went through here in 03 we were Neighbors and he was a new homeowner. A HUGE Tree went down in his back yard and by miracle it landed mostly between the Garage and the house. It would have destroyed either if it had hit squarely. I was laying on my couch when it went over and it actually threw me off the couch the ground shook so hard. Their Bedroom was completely covered with the tree as was the older neighbor lady's house but luckily it was mostly light weight stuff. I helped him a lot and we were able to fix almost everything ourselves and he came out of it really really good with the Insurance Company. We fixed the roofs and the broken joists etc and got 90% of the tree taken care of. I think he hired a guy to do some siding trim work and another to take care of the tree stump. My Saws just did not have the reach to get all the way through down at the base. The last cut I made the damn thing stood up and scared me to death. One of his Pitt Bulls had been out and was hanging around over by the root ball and I though she had gotten crushed under it but I guess his wife Lacy had let her back in the house.
