PROCEDURE For all gl1000-1100. How to install a flasher when using all LED turn signals.
Alright, another quick down and dirty solution to problem that has plagued many. An owner installs LED turn signals in the front and back of his/her bike, and they don't flash, just light up nice and steady...
OEM Goldwing flashers require a certain load in order to operate properly. When LED's are used, the load is reduced to a level that makes the standard flasher inoperable. Some folks have wired in resistors, but that sort of defeats the purpose of using LED's and is a fire hazard. Resistors get very hot. And resistors add enough load to the circuit you might as well use conventional turn signals bulbs.
But!
There is a $14 solution modern day solution. The Novita EP35 Electronic LED flasher works excellent in this situation. The EP35 is not load dependent, in fact, it will work with just about any load. Autozone sells the Novita EP35 Flasher for $12.95 plus tax. You can find in on the shelf as a stock item.
Here is how to install it.
1. Remove the old flasher. It is located on the left frame side.
2. Cut the plug off of the harness and attach Female connectors to the ends of the three wires.
3. Hook the wires to the flasher as shown in the picture. Note the color scheme.
4. Remove the OEM rubber holder and slip the EP35 onto the metal post (that the rubber holder was mounted on).
5. Ride with turn signal confidence.
