Luckily, I found a set of good, operational calipers on eBay for $30. Sorry folks........ I just had to vent some frustration to somebody that might understand! John

This will make you cry!
Guys 'n Gals, I just have to tell somebody about this situation I discovered on my bike! They say misery loves company......... Anyway, Thanks to Frenchy & his wife, I have a set of rebuild kits for my front brake calipers. ('82 GL1100) Well, as the riding season fast approaches, I thought I'd tackle that job. And, you'll never believe what I found! Understand that the front brakes were working, not that well, but working. I pulled both the calipers off and begun to try and get the pistons out. The more I pressurized them & tried, the more goop I found. I have finally decided that whoever did these calipers last time, reassembled them using Blue RTV Silicone GLUE, instead of silicon grease. The pistons, floating pins, seals.......... everything.......... is all GLUED together with blue RTV. There's no way I can get these guys to come apart and clean up. DAMN!! Luckily, I found a set of good, operational calipers on eBay for $30. Sorry folks........ I just had to vent some frustration to somebody that might understand! John
