What are the best choices for caliper rebuild kits for
my 78 front and rear brakes.Tried a search on NGW but
unable to figure out which vendor sells a good kit.
Brakes starting to get a little draggy and need to inspect
them.
thanks

Some will say use only OEM. I use K & L kits with very good results. I get them from georgefix on ebay.
On the rear caliper there is a joint seal that does not come with any of the kits. I usually get those from Honda. I just looked at bikebandit though and they are NLA.

I don't know. I just saw it at bikebandit and didn't know it was NLA. I was able to get them not all that long ago. Might be able to check at a local dealer. If they have any I think I would but them now. Just looked at MRCYCLE and they don't list it either.

in the kits ?
Thanks

Is it part of a kit there or can you get it separate?

Thanks for the part number :-D .Does this part have to be replaced when
cleaning the caliper to free up the cup? Also should I replace the piston with
the stainless version and where might I find the stainless .
Thanks

Honda fiche says "Call for price" on that #12 seal joint. That's Honda speak for, "We don't make it any more." So, none of the other resellers (like those mentioned above) will have it either as they're only ordering them from Honda.

However, I did find the part for you at CMS if you're willing to pay the price. Although their prices are high, you can often find 'no longer available' NOS parts at CMS that can't be found anywhere else.

Thanks Placerville ,excellent service ! I guess I will see if any local shops have it on the shelf,if not I will have to pay to play.It seems strange that they make a
rebuild kit and not include the seal joint with it.But such is life.....everything
I need has been discontinued,no longer available or obsolete .....call
for price  .

Agree, so here's my thinking on that. The parts they DO provide in a rebuild kit are those that are subject to wear, deterioration etc. If a parts not in the kit, then it's likely that it may not (normally) need to be replaced. In what condition is yours? Can it be cleaned and reused? Just a thought.
