G.day fellas from downunder.
My problem is when bike is at an idle its making a intermittent popping sort of noise in the air box. Which is making it run slightly rough at idle, but out on the road cruising does,nt miss a beat. Have been told it could be the slide needles worn causing it. Any info would be appreciated.
cheers Alan.
PS.great site keep it up.

I think popping is a symptom of lean, theres an air leak in the intake,
or the mixture screw is too lean.
You can verify this by pulling on the choke, 1/2 or full...and the
hesitation and the popping will go away.

Thats exactly what I had to do with my 77 GL just before I sold it for my 82 . But I only had to choke it a little maybe pull it out oh about a 1/8th. "
and was ok . I didn't rebuild as it ran tops . that ws before I new what I know now or I would have rebuilt it . Or more over put on a single carb set up . And for my battery , I checked it over with a battery hygrometer ans the one cell is dead . so a new battery there . Later gents .
