I bought one of these(the 11x version) to try to make it work on my 1100. The results so far are not promising. I have everything hooked up except the speedo. I haven't tried the tach yet as right now the engine has no oil and the radiator isn't on the bike. I am also finishing up replacing the orings and seals on the water pump. I had the radiator checked out and cleaned. Fortunately, he was able to clean the tubes good and he said it was in good shape. There is no wiring for a neutral light. For some reason, it has a hookup for the brake light switch. I tried to use it for the neutral light, but it is not working as it doesn't have a separate ground. I think it would if it did. The temp sensor does not work. It has a wire for the oil float indicator. It took me awhile to figure out that is the fuel gage. It reads full, and the tank is full, but not sure how it'll work as the fuel gage is in the 7 volt system. The high beam and turn signal indicators work fine. I will keep studying it and try to figure out ways to make the other stuff work.

It comes with a cable with a sensor on the end to read a magnet you mount on the front wheel. I haven't figured out a way to mount the magnet yet. It looks like I can mount the magnet to the brake rotor by drilling a hole in the base of the rotor and mounting the sensor to the bottom of the left fork. I'll let you know how that comes out. The 1100 gage setup has a square 9 pin connector that the connector on this unit matches up perfectly. However, most of wires you need to hook up are not in that 9 pin connector. I found a matching male and female connector at a local junk store that work perfectly. Using them I was able to connect all the wiring without a lot of problems. If the tach, and speedo work good along with the turn signals and light indicators, I will probably just figure out a way to mount the 1100 gas and temp gages and figure out a separate neutral light. Then I have to figure out a seal for the tach cable at the engine, but that shouldn't be hard. If nothing else, I'll leave the tach cable in place and hide it under the shelter.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on this, I'm all ears.

Have you tried doing a search here? I have seen that system before and I do not surf a lot so it had to be here. I am almost certain somebody else has installed one of those.

I guess for the tach cable just get a junk cable and cut the end fitting off then you just have a small hole to plug.

There is no wiring for a neutral light. For some reason, it has a hookup for the brake light switch. I tried to use it for the neutral light, but it is not working as it doesn't have a separate ground. I think it would if it did.

You can probably make this work by using a relay. Allow the neutral switch to complete the ground circuit for the relay coil and when it energizes when in neutral the relay can supply 12v to the brake light indicator in the gauge set.

Whiskerfish, you saw that on the Mitsi project I think. That's where I saw it. He didn't install one although he considered it. If I remember right he was able to go another route. Sagebrush, I think you have a great idea for the neutral light. I've got a small relay in a drawer out there. I'll give it a try tomorrow. It makes sense. It would sure be better than mounting another light. I'll have to study the circuits some more to determine how I can make the temp sensor and gas gage work properly. ZMan, that might do the trick. I just have to figure out a good way to plug it off. I'm thinking I should probably do the same for the speedo cable just to keep dirt and water out. For the new speedo sensor, I have another rotor that's in pretty bad shape that I'm going to experiment with. I plan to bore a hole the size of the magnet and see if the sensor will pick up the signal and still clear the rotor mounting bolts. If so, that won't be too hard, just a lot of switching the wheel and rotors around. It would be easier if the spokes on the 82 1100 front wheel weren't so narrow. I can't see weakening the wheel by drilling a hole through one of the spokes. It will be about a 5/16" hole. The thickness of the rotor base looks real good for mounting the bracket. It's just a tiny bit thinner than the mounting area of the magnet. When I get something that works I'll post some pics.

Here are the total instructions that you get when you buy one of these units.

Orange wire to left turn signal light
Light Blue wire to right turn signal light
Blue wire to the highlight Indictor
Blue/White wire to the water temperature sensor
Yellow/White wire to the oil float sensor
Black/Yellow "Wire to the engine pulse,
or the positive of the Ignition coil"
Red "wire to the power positive, before the ignition switch
Or directly wire on the positive of the battery.
Make sure the power always on"
Green wire to the power negative
Black "Wire to the ignition switch positive
or the oil gauge 12V positive"
Green/Yellow Wire to the brake (either handle bar switch or the foot brake switch)

1 The left button is turn of the single mile and total mile.
2. The right button is the turn or oil volume and the water temperature.
3. When you want to set the time, please press the left button first, when you see the screen shows "odo", then keep press the right one about 5 seconds. Then you will see the set part sparkly. And then the left button can choose the hour and minute and the right button can set the time. Then press the right button again for 5 second. The the time set is complete.

Not sure what the thread is for your wheel but they also make magnetic bolts that replace a brake rotor bolt for the speed sensor. If the link doesnt work just search "magnets" on their website

I had a trailtech vapor on my wing for a while (it's now on another bike and the wing is without proper guages-use iphone speedo app )-vapour is a great product btw!! small bright, light, waterproof, temp proof, fast cycling, lots of features...
Any magnet will work for the speedo sensor on the hercolor unit (as with the trailtech). The magnet can be mounted in the disk by drilling a hole just big enough, then putting the magnet in the hole and filling it in with epoxy, or use one of the magnetic bolts supplied in the trailtech kit.
Don't drill a hole in your rim/spoke-drill a hole in the disk, it is easier to put the magnet in, and is flat and smooth so is better to mount the pick-up to read from.

just get a good strong magnet from a toy or pick-up tool or something and use that.

This is the unit that I was planing to use if I could not save my standard 'Cable -Driven' tacho....So I will follow with interest.
The seller that I was looking, at on Ebay, did guarantee that the Rev counter WOULD work with ANY 4 STROKE engine....so that is why I was going to use it.

I use a 'Pedal-Cycle' LCD speedometer on my bike and the magnet that came with it, I simply attached to the rotor. I can take a photo if you like but I will need to clarify it in paint and my bike is a bit on the 'Black' side.

Please do not pay crazy money for a magnet !!...Just look on line or on Ebay for a Neodynium magnet like the one below in the photo. It does not need to be THIS big but the counter-suck hole makes it so easy to fit !

I just plugged the original speedo cable after adding a few drops of oil and forgot about it .
