View from above, plenty of room for an airbox. Stock airbox planned, fed from "alternative source(s)".

Nice work!
If the carbs flow more than stock, do you have other mods in line to take advantage of that?

Short, full-radius velocity stacks right at the cab openings. They can be inside the airbox, but webers really like radiused openings. We're talking maybe 2 horses directly attributable to the v-stacks.
This was for an in-line car engine but its the thought that counts.

I have about a week's work getting the manifolds welded, final fitting, etc. Linkages will follow so it probably wont run for a bit. This set-up will go on my other GW, it is running already. Bike pictured is my cafe mule, otherwise known as The Chicken Hawk.

Hi,
your setup is looking as if it was the original Prototype of Honda. Are the measurements really a perfect fit distance wise to the original intake manifolds? Which base jetting will you use to start with? Please keep us informed about your progress and about the outcome.
Thanks
Karl

Re: TwinDCOE installation on GL1000, manifolds ready for wel
I had to do some serious fettling to get the pair of stock intake runner elbows to align with the bore spacing of the Webers. They have been toed in, and the new carb flanges bored at a matching angle to make up for the nearly 200 thou difference. They are now a near perfect match and will blend nicely once some internal smoothing is done.
Still waiting for welding, but I have a slew of other projects on the boil while this is waiting to happen.
Carb jetting is a wait and see as well, but I have a box'o'parts on the shelf.........
Carbs will breathe thru a common airbox, and there is space for Weber velocity stacks in there. I expect the original but modified air box might feed the pair, expect to see two screened air inlets on the forward surface of the shelter sides, feeding fiberglass ductwork leading to the filter box. Sides will still open for access to sundry electrical and cooling components.
Gas tank might see an externally accessed fuel filler in the shelter center panel, fixed to the shelter frame so the panel will still open with a key. Maybe...........

Project is stalled for a couple more weeks, just finishing my Retro Direct RoadMaster bicycle, AND preparing for vintage racing driver's school (1275 MG Midget) to be held this weekend in Colorado. Pretty busy for an olde guy...........

Sunn Bobb,
I opened the elbow base holes up a little to allow them to rotate a couple degrees while using stock hardware and o rings, then designed the alloy connector lengths so they met at the right distance apart when exiting the alloy flanges. Flanges are bored at that angle. It took some tricky fixturing but nothing much beyond my rudimentary skill set.
Anyone wanting more detailed pics, I'll take some when welding/brazing the parts together.
I was pretty sure this would work before cutting chips, but popular opinion said it would be difficult to pull off. That's all the encouragement I needed
