For lack of a better name...GL1100 FIT build

So i'm getting pretty far along with the teardown I figured it's time to make a build thread...
First off... FITT = Fuel Injected Twin Turbo
Can the motor handle it? Eh worth a shot...
Anyway, started with a 1983 GL1100 Aspencade with supposedly 46k original miles tho I doubt it. Started right up for the seller when he rode it on the trailer, though there were known carb issues...Wouldn't idle well without choke and would die with application of throttle not a problem for me since I have plans for EFI, just wanted to know that it ran. I got home and it won't budge off the trailer. Front brake is locked up. Won't start! Turns out the starter was bad. Finally got a new starter and fired right up.
Anyway my main plans are EFI similar to socrace's setup. Hayabusa front end, updated rear shocks. And once I have it running reliably on stock ignition, I'll convert to electronic running off the microsquirt. Then it's on to the turbos. I'll update as I go!
When I picked it up

Removing all wires except ignition/charging/starting system.

Carbs off, harness removed(mostly)

A quick glance with the "tank", my ninja passenger seat, and ninja tail light to get a feel for the lines

Oh and found this hole, going to have it repaired before paint or powder coat

Oh no, that is kind of a critical area with the swing arm loading. Better get that welded up good. Interesting build thread for sure. Now why a turbo and not a super. Seems like it would be difficult to find a turbo that could spool up fast enough?

I've always had a thing for turbos. Chasing the "woosh" from the blow off valve.
I found a local custom chopper builder that will fix the frame. Said its pretty common with older bikes as that's where all the rain water collects because the kickstand angle.

An ambitious project ... good that you're starting out with a runner.

Being you are running twin turbos, you doing a big and small turbo, or both the same size?

Cool interested in this elaborate build. Just did a busa on mine. Not difficult with All-Balls bearing conversion kit.

it will be two of the same size, one run by each cylinder bank.

Well got more work done over the last few days. Just waiting on a swingarm tool, then it's off to frame repair.
Engine out

And the work continues...
I've decided to finish all the frame, suspension, and brake stuff before digging into the fuel injection. I might do a separate write up on the fork swap to add to the few that are available so others don't have to dig through pages and pages of information. And thanks to whoever made the avatar...pretty cool!
Anyway I'll let the pictures do the talking...
Down to just the frame, swingarm and triple tree off. Bring it in for repairs this week.

Hayabusa forks mounted! edit : GSXR 1000 forks

11" Rear shocks...took some modification to the bushings, and will need some washers but they work. Not sure if I like them, might just go with progressives.

And...coming together pretty good!

Looks about where mine is.

What brand are the rear shocks? Thinking of going with about the same length, but didn't know if it would be to low.
What turbos are you planning on running?

Rear shocks are NET/Naierte...some cheap chinese ebay things...got them $98 for the pair shipped. I just searched for 11" shocks on ebay. Pretty good quality, but only one of the mounts fit without grinding down the rubber bushings. If I would've kept the old shocks i may have been able to use those bushings, but I tossed them a few days ago. It does sit pretty low, but i've seen a few running the 11" shocks. I think it helps keep the geometry in line with the shorter forks.
Not sure on the turbos yet...definitely in the smaller end of things, either GT15 or small T3. Still need to do the airflow calcs to figure out the best option.

Good progress, the front end seemed to be installed pretty darn quick.
