I'd like a buffer (paint gun, welder......etc. ).

thanks for the vid. You should make one.

I'd have to wear a dust mask tho..
1978GL1000 naked - kinda sadly gone. no bike at the moment.

Here is a story.

I was contacted by a fellow interested in buying a set of polished gl1200 valve and timing belts covers. He was very pleasant to deal with. After workinr out the details, he confided this with me:

"I am a new quadraplegic. Car accident.. busted my spine. Gathering parts to make the bike pretty for when and if I recover. Gives me something to do. only wish iI could work on it.. I have an 86 Aspencade. Im in no hurry. Live in Illinois." - Kent

I tell you, people are so inspiring sometimes. I invited him to poke his head in around here.

I am pleased to let you know we have finished our backlog of polishing, and are now back to a 7 day turn around. As a few of you know, Our main buffer was knocked over in the midst of the spring ordering season. The damage required taking the buffer to the manufactor for repair, where I was told it would be a week to fix. This changed when the repair shop discovered that the parts needed were back ordered. Meanwhile, orders stared to stack up. The buffer finally came back 7 weeks later, and we dug into the backlog. Everyone is caught up now, and I REALLY appreciate how understanding everyone was. If you show up for the NW run, you get an extra Grilled oyster! lol.

To prevent this from ever happening again, We have acquired a 3HP 220V buffer and are working to restore and wire it. I have also acquired a large inventory of timing and valve covers in order to have them available for swap or purchase.

Here's to you have a SHINEY day!

Here is a tip for folks who do not own a buffing wheel. You can use a variable speed grinder with Zephyr airway wheels and rouge. We use the Zephyrs almost exclusively. They can be found at most truck stop supply places. The following link demonstrates how to and what to use. This system is almost exactly how we do our polishing with a buffing machine, but uses the grinder instead.

I have been turning polishing job involving wheels away, as we prefer to do them with the spokes removed on our buffer. This grinder method holds promise, and we may start doing them.
