Well, I finally got myself another 1000...so the 78 with the car, and my 1800 will have some more company. Picked up a 77 from a member on here...he looks a lot, but doesn't post much.
From what I can tell, she is mostly there...he took a few parts off for his 75, so the most immediate pieces I need to get are a starter block for the right side of the handlebars, and the full setup for the points...his electronics burnt out, so he took these.
The carbs are almost totally apart, and I see an order going to Randakk for a rebuild kit. There are no brakes at the moment, so a bit of rebuilding is in order, as well as a general going over to see what needs help. He was smart enough to try something on this bike before he did it to his 75, so I need to be sure everything got done right, and is back together with proper torque...many things are just on finger tight, or nuts just started.
The plan for this little girl is to make a cafe racer out of her, and as time and money allows, I am going to supercharge it...dual superchargers in fact.
I am also going to paint her up, and have a tribute to my deceased grandpa who flew in a B-25 in WWII. His rig was nicknamed "the Witches Switch" and had a nice lookin' lady using a broom painted on the planes nose. So, we are going to recreate her, and adorn her on the shelter...maybe she'll have parts on other panels as well.
My grandpa started riding for certain in WWII, (maybe earlier) and through out the years, he kept riding...and ever since, every generation continues the tradition.
For now, I am simply going to get her running, and then park it for the winter until a couple more projects get done. Now I just need to decide if I go with the point, or if I put a little electronic magic in her. Here are a couple pictures of how she sits, as I know you guys like pictures.
And here is all the stuff it had with it...the truck was full, box and back seat! Anyone looking for a set of Bates bags?
Thanks for looking!
