Steering Stem Socket GL1100

#1

Post by Randal »

Does anyone know where to purchase the socket (steering stem socket wrench) that will work on a 81 GL1100 Standard? The Honda shop I called said they did not sell tools. I want to finsh installing new headset bearings and get on with my restoration project.

Thanks /Randal Brown

Welcome, Hope you enjoy it here.

To answer your question, it is just as easy to put a flat head screwdriver in the notch and hit it a little bit with a hammer. Once it breaks loose, your home free. It's not on super tight so it's not very difficult.

Thanks for the reply, I actually did use the screw driver, against my better judgement, and have removed the nut. I am wanting the proper tool so that I can torque the nut to the specs in the manual. If anyone has the tool in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I would love to borrow it.
