Belongs in here for future reference IMHO. Nicely done sunnbob action1 action1 action1

sunnbobb wrote:Super easy to mount a stebel or bad boy. And, IMHO, the louder the horn the better when riding a bike.

Here is how I did it.

1. Undo the top bolt of the engine mount brace ( the one on the right side, between the engine and the radiator.

2. Pull the top of the brace outwards.

3. Drill a hole through the brace

4. put a flat square head bolt though the the hole

5. Hang the horn on the square head and tighten. (there is a slot on the horn just for this)

6. push the brace back in and reinsert the bolt.

NEVER run a quality horn without a relay.

Here is a picture of the finished install.

And here is a pic showing the installation slot.

Another option to consider, if you don't want that whole huge unit hanging out for all to see, is to separate the horn itself from the compressor. I did this for my Triumph Bonneville. When you examine the unit, you'll see the plastic horn has curved bits that wrap around the metal compressor body, and some plastic clips where they lock together. With care, you can separate the two with minimal damage, none of it important. You now have a compressor, which has a hole the air comes out. I used DB Weld to weld a brass 5/16" FPt to 5/16" barb fitting it; don't block the air! I then mounted the compressor under my tank (in the space the air injection valve had been), and the horn itself to the fork. The bits that went around the compressor went around the fork tube just fine, then I secured it with two zip ties. Then just run 5/16" hose between them securing with hose clamps. And definitely use a relay to power it.

There are a couple of versions of this thing around, your details may be different. But it shouldn't cause too much hassle.

Thought this might be a nice option (for those of us too cheap to go big ;) ) Stolen from a recent Classics mag (yes, I'm shameless).
