clutch nut

I have replaced the clutch on a 1100 and it had the wierd "specialty" nut on it. I grabbed an old socket from my toolbox (snap-on lol) and welded 4 tabs on it so I could unscrew the nut.
However, it is now my 1000 that has a bad clutch (or getting there) and I cannot for the life of me find that tool I made
sooo..... I am just wondering what you guys use to get the clutch off.
Maybe octane or some other savvy individual can tell me what socket size would fit on top of the nut but not around it (if I make any sense) so I can make my tool again before I tear the engine apart.
thanks in advance
