Ain't it the pits...

Post by shatle »

So, on Saturday I finally finish my water pump replacement (Thanks Frenchy and Susan!) and get the bike back together. No leaks, either- a miracle right there!

It's November 12th, but it's overcast and 55 degrees- excellent for Minnesota and plenty warm enough for a ride, and the bike has been off-line for a month. I'm _ready_ for a ride!

After 20 minutes, it's starts to rain- a cold rain. Crap! Back to the garage. Cold, windy and rainy on Sunday. Today, work. Tomorrow- SNOW (or so they say). Poop.

I guess it's time to lay up the Mouse for the winter. I shouldn't complain about getting to ride in November, but I wish I could have had more than 20 minutes... fly into a rage

My rant for today :)

MN weather

#3

Post by 4banger »

shatle, I know what you mean about the weather there, I grew up and went to school In Hayfield, about halfway between Austin and Rochester. I did some motocross while I lived there. Built my own racer. Raced in the 125 class. Lived there for several years after graduation, but finally figured out there was no Eskimo blood in my heritage. Couldn't see any reason to continue living in those long cold winters and short hot summers.

Thanks Queeenie, but it ain't going to happen. The current temp is 19 F and there is two inches of snow on the ground.

The bike is snugged up in the garage, and the only riding I'll do before March/April will be in my head. Part of the price for living up north :)

You're welcome, & I'm glad you got her back together! crossy.gif

I feel your pain! This past Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day! Sun shining, temp in the mid 60's, wind gusts of 50+mph  I wanted to, but thought it unwise to go out with the high winds!

SHould've gone out Frenchy, I did! Some of them wind gusts were even blowing the Wing around. Worse though was dodging all teh downed branches on the back roads!
A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.

Now snow here yet, but It's colder than it has been the last few
days already. It's been pretty mild and a lots of rain here in
Norway this fall.

Try,

Where in Norway do you live? I still have family that "stayed home" near Bergen (Rasdal) and have been able to visit there once.

I was lucky, I got to go in the summertime :)

Hello Shatle, I live in Oslo, it takes around 8 - 9 hours to ride
to Bergen. Bergen is "the Rain City" , always raining there.

Last Tuesday about 10,000 Norwegians were left isolated in mountain towns
and villages after a severe storm set off landslides that blocked roads and
tunnels in Bergen and Sogn og Fjordane.

Meteorologists said 223 millimeters (roughly 13 inches) of rain had
drenched Opstveit by 7am Tuesday.

Yes- my cousins told me about the rain. I was there at midsummer, and there were three sunny days in a row. They told me many times how lucky I was!

When we went up to Rasdal to the hutte, it was typically rainy/misty for the rest of the week :)

I'd love to go back...

I have plans to take a trip to Bergen next year with my GL.

you'r right danriffle, but that gives me more time to ride. BTW, I'll be retiring in about ayear, and I have given some thought about moving back up there to be around my family.
