Ooh that is a good looking exhaust you have on the bike.

Looks like those carbs got some polish love while you were at it. Sweet ride.

When I built this bike I never installed turn signals, so I ordered some smoke deco arrow signals, while waiting for those I’m going thru the wiring to be ready for those, also I pulled the speedo & tach to send out to be restored, they both started whining and jumping around, can’t have that….

Well worth the time to review the wiring. The clocks look okay for 50 years old, they should refurbish nice.

My 1800 seems to be very lazy at times and lays down for a short nap. Yesterday and a couple of times previously it seems to roll forward just enough to allow the side stand to pivot and the bike lays down on the left side. Good news is the crash bars are well placed so the damages are very minimal. Sometimes a scratch or maybe the wind deflector under the mirror gets damaged like this time. The deflectors are easy enough to fashion out of sheet plastic and a little time. Wasn't doing any riding today so I made some new ones out of heavier stock but forgot to take pictures.

Maybe just a touch of downward grade? Since it does not have reverse it is not reasonable to point it the other way, but are there any options to go sideways on the slight grade?

Leave it in gear, take up the 'slack' before leaning on the side stand ?

Today I changed kickstands, I have a problem with bikes that lean too Much on their Side stands, changed both side stands on my CB750 & CB550s with a custom made side stand from Carpys, and so they happen to easily fit on the GL1000, I went with the cb550 side stand cause it’s about 1.25” longer and has extension on the foot for easy up and down, now it stands up straight with just enough lean to be safe

Typically I will engage the reverse when parking on a less than ideal surface. It wasn't the best place but I thought it would be ok. Not 100% sure it didn't have help by a curious person strolling by. Not trying to blame anyone but myself, just speculating.

I ordered and received two sets of turn signals, one set is a tried and tested set I’ve been using for years and the other is a new LED style I’ve never used, I decide to use the LED style, so I test each one to make sure they’re good and install, first I mount the two rear, test that they flash and then mount the front set, but when all are wired they don’t flash at all, disconnect one and the other on that side works and vice versa, I messed with it for a while and gave up and installed other set which works fine fine, anyone with some insight on this please let me know…..

You need an electronic flasher. The LED's don't have enough load for a regular flasher to work. Any auto parts store will have them. But I have found that some work better than others.

Even with an LED flasher, I could not get all LED blinkers to work. I settled on making the rears incandescent at they are only on briefly and cannot really save power. But perhaps newer LED flashers will work better. Let us know.

Yes, as I stated, some work better than others. I am lucky enough to know the parts guys at Oreilly's that they would let me try some different ones until I found one that worked. A guy could just buy 2 or 3 different ones and then bring back any that don't work.
