Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
Took my 'wing for a spin today, to double-check to see how it's running. After a couple years of no problems I randomly started getting a dead cylinder, but only at idle. Pulled the rack and cleaned it, but wasn't sure if I'd solved the actual problem or not. So far, so good.

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
I got home just in time to beat a thunderstorm.
The bike was dirty, so I just left it parked in the driveway in hopes of the rain washing some of the road grime off of it.
Yeah... I know.

He has no title, I'd work with a bill of sale. If he hasn't sold it in a couple of weeks, Ill offer him $100 for it. Just the front forks and cluster is worth that If the frame on the 83 checks out ok I can just steal parts to make it run again.Track T 2411 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:04 am There's no mention of a title... if it were closer I'd snap it up just for the wheels and forks!

I missed an '83 'runner' (not very pretty) that had been half nakedized before the seller lost interest. Only lasted two days on Marketplace... IMhO, GO GET IT! LOLOL!

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
Got a decent ride in yesterday. A bit of a challenge lifting the right foot off the peg when I stop but if I am cautious I can overcome that. New tire arrived yesterday so I worked on that today. I have a spare rim so got the old rubber off and got one bead of the new one on but the last bead kicked my but. New Knee made it especially challenging. Had to break down and take it to the shop. So that is mounted and ready to be installed. Maybe tomorrow

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
You had to take the knee in to the shop? hahaha. Good job old man. With Cycle gear offering free mounting once a year, I have been waiting to buy tires until their special shows up again.
I found the end of the internet

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
I will have to check on that. I normally buy mine from J & P and they come in just a couple days but I have a Cycle Gear just a couple miles away. Actually just about the same as the Honda shop. The guys at the Honda Shop know me and the last two times I went in there they threw it on the machine and spun the last bead on for me and did not charge me. Of course I usually show up drenched in sweat and cussing so I think it is pity.

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
Same thing around here, wrestling tires.
Yesterday I started mounting up some new rubber on my extra set of wheels.
Getting the bead to set took a few attempts,
but a full 120 psi from the compressor finally did the trick.
Now... on to the the back tire.

Tires. I was amazed at what I had to spend for tires for the 1800. Now the 1000 needs tires and coincidentally, the Acadia needs tires.
I'm going broke on tires.

Re: What Did You Do To Your Wing Today?
I broke a bike - down.
I was just about to head out to my storage unit this AM to try to free up a long-dormant GL1000, when my wife asked, "Do you think you'll get that old bike out of the back yard before winter? I'm tired of looking at it."
Change of plans. I pulled out the tools, laid out some tarps, started squirting PB on every bolt/nut I could find. And I dug in.
This bike was part of a twofer purchase a few winters ago. The motor was seized on this one, and the harness was stripped as well. The other bike had a motor that moved by hand. I pulled that motor a year or so ago and stored it for a not-yet-obvious project. This baby donated parts here and there, and I managed to recover my $ by selling a few choice bits from both bikes.
Pulling a motor on a bike that's sitting in soft dirt against a house isn't easy. I don't recommend it!
