Went for a road trial to continue with the engine tune using the new Speeduino ECU and go to the local pub to see a shipmate I haven't seen since my early Navy days. Used VE Live in Tuner Studio and let the program modify/calibrate the VE table. Interesting to watch on a computer screen.

Went for a ride yesterday, a loooooong ride. My son wanted to do a Iron Butt Challenge and I couldn't bear the thought of him going alone. Left here at 6 am and drove straight through to OKC, right at 500 miles. Everything went well until I missed a turn on the return ride. Traffic prevented me from seeing him taking a flyover ramp and suddenly I was missing my ride partner. Took about 90 minutes to get back together but with the help of google maps we did it. Took about 20 long and hard hours to log over 1030 miles. I'm pretty sore in places and may have caught a cold in the process but we did it in the required time. I didn't sign up so there will be no recognition for me but I'm ok with that. Never again.

Did a iron butt on the big bike last year riding down to Cape Canaveral and back for a canceled rocket launch. Had a little chafing but other wise it was okay. It does make for a long day!

Have managed to ride all 3 of my running bikes in the last 3 days out to Waverly and get some good gas. Deer Season is getting ready to start so I wanted to get fresh Non Eth gas in all of them. My big bike and the 1200 are both at 97,000 thousand miles. I know the 1800 will bust 100 (Maybe 110) next year but I am not sure about the 1200. It is a great bike now that I have the bugs worked out. The new full face helmet and music in the headset make it a much more enjoyable ride. Really nothing wrong with it just a bit sedate for me.

The 75 was a bit reluctant. Back tire was so low it would not register on the stick. Runs Okay but occasionally it acts like one of the slides is sticking and at top end it runs out of getty ups at like 105 -110. Plus I need to tighten the steering stem as she is getting a bit sloppy. I coast out of the garage backwards and if I cock the bars a bit and grab the front brake I can feel a click as the slop goes out of the head stock. She is due for some love when I get time.

The 78 is sitting over in the corner all alone and abandon looking. Her carbs are a mess from last year.

I did a few times about 15 years ago or so... the last 200 miles are killers. I would take a psuedophedrine (back when you will could get) toward the end to help me stay awake. Al.... welcome to Oklahoma allergies and rag weed

Kind of hoping it is just an allergy reaction. We didn't interact any people other than 1 food stop. Even there, the place was pretty empty.

Oil change on Ginger, my '79 GL1000.

She's pushing 6k since I put her back on the road and running like a champ. I love this bike!

One of the LEDs lighting the speedo went out a few weeks ago, leaving me unable to read the trip meter at night (big deal!). I also took the opportunity of the oil change to pull the speedo and replace that light.

Thats the thing about goldwings, (especially the 1000's), when they are right, they are a wonderful thing.

But let them sit for two seasons and it is junk once again. At least the carbs and perhaps the starter if you insisted on cranking it for an hour.

Cyborg. I surely know it. I spent about 5 months last winter/spring futzing with that bike to get the air/fuel right - after about 6 months of total joy. And then I locked it in again and, wow!

Fred. The Wing carbs have a reputation, for sure. A couple years ago, I rolled up to a bike tire mounting shop (yes, that's all they do). I was with my son. I had a tire and a rim strapped to the back of my Wing, and my son was on his Wing - both GL1100s. The owner came out to look and was talking with us. His first question: Who does your carbs for you?

Since I'm rambling, I'll share a fun one. There's a local biker bar about 5 miles from my house - Bentley's. (Any biker in New England probably knows it.) The other weekend they had a people's choice bike show - anything goes. I brought Ginger just for fun. (Bentley's is really a Harley den.) No surprise that I didn't take any prizes. As I was backing my bike out of the roped-off area to leave, Bentley came over to chat. He wanted to know what kind of bike I had. Guess he had never paid much attention to the flat-4 motor on the Wings.

Been in the woods so today's ride was the first in 3 plus weeks. Had to run to the cycle gear shop and get some buttonology help on the comms but got that working pretty good now. She can listen to her FM and I can listen to the music in my phone and we can talk when we want. I even got the better half out for a ice cream run up to Williamsburg and back. Have a late morning appointment tomorrow but the weather for the afternoon and Friday look most excellent. Really be nice to log a couple hundred miles if I can break away.

Got the wife out on the back of the big bike for a few hours. We went to Fort Monroe and rode around. Only a few miles away but we had never been there before. Very interesting. I had no idea it was so big and so involved. There is a Moat and a island within the island. Lots and Lots of structures. We were probably on the Island for a hour or so just putting around the various buildings and structures. Will have to go back again with walking shoes and do some proper exploring. After that we headed up to Williamsburg and got our Ice cream then rode the Ferry across the James River to the Surry side and around back to the house. Nice day!

Repositioned a new backrest to find that sweet spot of support when riding. Also installed a charging port in the Vetter fairing. Working on installing 4 way emergency flashers.

Got in a short ride on the 1200 today. Bright and a sunny 55 at 10 am and downhill from there. Full overcast and 53 by time I got home. Enough to chill. First ride in over a month due to a medical issue.

installed heated grips on Redwoods trike. I am sure the "book" would say it was a 30 minute job... took 5 hours. The directions were not helpful.... "locate the 6 prong plug on the body" Maybe a hint like "near the headlight" would help
