Actually I wonder if you could mount the entire hard case inboard of those rear tires.

Ooh Dean, that seems like a very good idea. It would just be an issue of clearing the axle.

Would the placement of both, entire hard cases mounted inboard of the tires, be in addition to mini-fenders over the tires?
That's the way I envision it. It would give you storage and fill in a lot of empty space, that's of course if you have enough room to fit them between the body of the bike and the wheel. We have a local store here that sells components for making trailers, axles, wheels, hitches etc. They also sell various sizes of unpainted metal fenders. I bet one could work for you.

I like Dean's cool idea for the bags. You might even be able to combine the tops of the bags with the fenders.
